“Called to the Wilderness”
This August, we will kick back with a light and cheery sermon series, “Dark Night of the Soul.” Living in the 1500s, John of the Cross described the Christian life as a difficult nighttime journey, the “dark night of the soul.” Our lectionary selections from the Letter to the Hebrews discussed some of these challenges John observed centuries ago. The uncertainty we experience as followers of Jesus is well known, part of the spiritual journey. Our troubles are not always as particular to our lives as we think!
