Hebrews 12:18-29
“God is a Consuming Fire”
We are searching for the Kingdom of God. Today’s reading suggests the Kingdom is always beyond what we can grasp. What do you do with that?
Sunday we will continue to hold the Letter to the Hebrews in conversation with the spiritual journey that John of the Cross calls the dark night of the soul. We have entered the dark night doing “the right things.” We soon see the promises of God fall away into uncertainty. In the second half of the dark night, wholeness with oneself and God begins to take our focus. This week we are welcomed into the darkest part of the dark night of the soul. The grace of God draws us in. We find ourselves in a place of awe.
