“Not Receiving What Was Promised”
This week we will continue to hold up the Letter to the Hebrews next to John of the Cross’s understanding of the Christian spiritual journey. Last week Abraham walked with faith out into the wilderness. This week we learn that not all promises are realized as expected. The promises of God may not materialize as we hope. After describing many difficulties, the author of Hebrews asks us to lay aside the weight of our regrets, disappointments, and mistakes so we can run our own race, seeking Jesus.
