Micah 5:2-5a, Luke 1:46b-48, Hebrews 10:5-10

“Love”

As Christmas Eve draws closer, we enter our fourth and final Sunday of Advent, the Sunday of Love. We are encountering three passages. One passage is from the prophet Micah, one from the evangelist Luke, and the final one from the letter to the Hebrews. Held together, these writings call us to understand God sent Jesus so we could comprehend the possibility of a better way.

God’s hope for us isn’t religious appearances, riches, and power. Instead, we are called to live in the world in ways that draw out the best in each other. Jesus, in his birth, death, and resurrection, creates a path for us. The greatest obstacle to living in love is us.
