Luke 11:1-13
“Be Persistent” (Pray, Seek, and Find)
This week, Jesus provides a template for prayer and spends twice as much time encouraging us never to stop asking God for the gift of the Holy Spirit. “For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” -Luke 11:10
Luke 11:1-13 is all about persistence. We are invited to be stubborn in our seeking. Even the lazy friend will get out of bed to get us a loaf of bread if we are enough of a pain. Even a cruddy parent won’t swap the requested scrambled eggs for a skillet of scorpions.
The funny thing about a lifetime of seeking after God- what is behind the door we knock on is rarely the room we thought we were trying to get inside!
