John 12:20-33
“Let Go to Gather”
During this Lenten season of letting go of patterns and assumptions that pull us from experiencing wholeness in Christ, we have a passage in which Jesus affirms that “those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” When we delight in our lives, we grow. Real growth will necessarily change us. It feels comfortable to keep things as they are, even if we aren’t thrilled with (or even hate) parts of our current lives. Why not let go of this stuff? Why not lean into love, even if it means becoming transformed along the way– losing the small selves we once were and finding our new identity as beloved beyond measure?
