“Copper Coins”
In these last three weeks before Advent, we find Jesus teaching in the temple and standing accused of being a king. His comments can be read more than one way. For example, in today’s story, is Jesus affirming the widow or challenging the greed of the religious authorities? Because his words have layers, this last sermon series of the Christian year is called “Appearances.”
Sunday, we will explore the meaning of Christ’s abundance wrapped in the tale of a widow and two small copper coins.
