Luke 18:11-19
“Prayer”
These are our final weeks on the road with Jesus and into Jerusalem in the Gospel of Luke. We will soon enter a new Christian year with the season of Advent. This Sunday, we will read the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector in Luke 18:9-14. These two men had very different ways of praying. Prayer matters!
John Wesley, one of the fathers of Methodism, advised that Christians should do no harm, do good, and practice the spiritual disciplines that help us to stay in love with God. There are many spiritual disciplines. These next five weeks, we will consider the disciplines of prayer, worship, participation in Communion, taking good care of our bodies, and searching scripture.
