About

Trinity is a Christian faith community of the United Methodist Church variety

Trinity is a small church filled with feisty, funny, faithful people interested in living out our faith with integrity and humility. If that sounds interesting, come meet us!

METHODIST

As Methodists, we believe that the grace-filled, living core of the Christian faith is “revealed in Scripture, illuminated by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and is confirmed by reason,” and that our faith should inspire us to service.

Methodists share a commitment to be students of Jesus, a common history, and a tendency to show up with food.

UNITED METHODIST

As part of the larger United Methodist Church (UMC), we are Protestants, under the authority of a Bishop, have certain standing committees, use common hymnals, open the communion table to all, and work collectively on many relief projects worldwide.

Together, as United Methodists and Colusans, we seek to be active students of Christ: helping each other to follow Jesus, thrive in community, and heal and transform the world.

THEOLOGICALLY DIVERSE

Each UMC congregation has its own personality and theological flavor. There are many valid, scripturally defensible, historical understandings of Jesus Christ, atonement, and salvation.

Because good and faithful people disagree, we don’t seek theological uniformity within the pews. Instead, we seek to follow Jesus’s commandments within the world, reflecting the generous grace of God in our lives. Methodists are people who strive to be of one heart, though we are not of one opinion.

PRACTICING

We practice at our faith.

We encourage members to practice spiritual disciplines such as daily prayer, regular Bible study, healthy living, worship participation, taking part in communion, and work with the poor, sick, outcast, imprisoned, and underserved.

As practicing, growing Christians, we continue to make mistakes. There is room in our denomination and our church for rethinking, repentance, and course correction.

INCLUSIVE

At Trinity, we believe all persons are beloved children of God. United Methodists affirm the full humanity and value of all persons, regardless of race, gender, immigration status, relationship status, socio-economic status, or sexual orientation.

That affirmation extends to inclusion in the full life and leadership of the church.

JOYFULLY INVITING ALL TO AN ENRICHING LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST

God’s grace always reaches out to us in love. At Trinity, all are welcome to join us in worship as equals.

Yes, even those people.

Yes, even you.
