Luke 16:1-13

“Them”

We examine fire as a symbol of divine judgment and the unavoidable consequences of injustice, complacency, and turning away from God. We will confront how our personal and communal choices to classify people as enemies or “less than” can invite fiery outcomes. In Luke 16:1-13, Jesus tells a parable about wealth, accountability, and seeing ourselves as siblings to those who struggle.

God asks us to bear one another’s burdens; the world asks us to capitalize upon them. This week’s story is of the “crooked” manager. Not until he sees his worldly status slipping does the man understand that the world’s concerns were never what mattered.
